Tom and his wife, PK, were exploring senior living communities for Marge, Tom’s mother. Marge had a few hard and fast rules. Her apartment had to have high-speed Internet. And the community needed to have an active bridge club. Lucky for us at ViewPointe, we met both of those requirements. In fact, Marge is a member of two bridge clubs; one on our campus and one she travels to off site.
By the way, did we mention that Marge is 101 (and a ½) years young?
After being in independent living in Arizona, Marge agreed it was time to be nearer to her son and daughter-in-law. So, how did they come to choose us?
Says Tom:
“We talked to quite a few people and learned by word-of-mouth that ViewPointe was the place to be in the Colorado Springs area. We also learned from my sister-in-law that a convenient location helps. ViewPointe is about half-a-mile from our house.”
“We received a wonderful tour from Marketing Director, Elisa Santos. We did look at other communities but what kept us coming back to ViewPointe was the incredible friendliness and helpfulness of the entire staff. Everyone was superb.”
There were other key reasons we were the ideal choice for Tom, PK and Marge.
“As mom grows to require more support, we know she’ll have everything she needs,” says Tom. “Also, the financial aspect of ViewPointe was right. Most importantly, we thought we would get excellent care for mom. That has been confirmed every day.”
In addition, Marge’s apartment with us is similar to the one she had in Arizona. That provided an instant feeling of familiarity and comfort.
Right now, Marge is thoroughly enjoying her very active lifestyle with us in Assisted Living. She surfs the Internet; reads and stays current of the latest events and news. She plays bridge twice a week and attends exercise classes daily. She walks with the help of her walker around campus near her apartment. She meets and makes new friends almost every day.
Tom and PK would like to recognize a few of our staff:
“Robyn, the Executive Director, has been just absolutely splendid. Just about every time we visit, we say hi and we talk.
Elisa Santos (our Marketing Director) is equally incredible, ensuring mom’s care and communicating with us.
The nurse and care staff were on mom’s care immediately after Marge sprained her ankle after returning from a trip to Washington State. They have been terrific.
Caitlin and Peggy at the front desk; they are always well informed and very friendly. They always know exactly where to find mom.
Al, the head of the Maintenance Department, has been great. Mom had some things she wanted done to her apartment and Al had it all completed before she moved in. Art even arranged for Mom to better navigate a tiny step by her sliding door.”
There are a few more special touches that stand out. Tom and PK said when Marge’s other son passed away, all our staff and residents made a point to offer their condolences and personal support. PK was grateful that we arranged for Marge to have dinner in her apartment, to give her some reflective time alone. As we all know, it’s often the little things that make a big difference.
All in all, Tom, PK and Marge a very happy with their decision to choose ViewPointe. We are happy about their decision as well.
“Everyone seems to be very attentive to what we need. We are absolutely overjoyed with where mom is and the care she is receiving. I’ve already recommended ViewPointe to a number of my friends.”
